Just posting message to see if we can get broadband into Warsop. Our only hope is BT who say they need 200 people to subscribe with a 75% takeup before they will convert the exchange. There are today 54 subscribers. If we want to get broadband convince your friends / neighbours to subscribe. The results can be viewed at http://www.adslguide.org.uk/availability/btprereg.asp?order=trig

Further to Craig's message - Anyone wishing to register for Broadband can do so at the following website http://www.btopenworld.com/broadband/reg10/ Or you can go to Warsop Web homepage for more details.

Simon - Thank you for visiting the site again. Any remark is a compliment - at least you bothered to have your say. I haven't removed your messages because I welcome any input and can accept criticism. Perhaps you'd like to be a little more constructive and suggest how I can improve it - though please bear in mind that I do this in my spare time - perhaps you could spare a little time to help with it. Church Warsop was a good place to grow up in with the woods just off to the side. Much better than a lot of kids get today. I enjoyed living there...and had a lot of friends there. A message for Rebecca about clubs for her two boys aged 9 & 11. There is a club on Church Street, (next door to the Strand Bingo, where I work) its called Unit 2000, but I am not quite sure what activities they do there. Also, there is the Scouts, Cubs and Beavers, held at The Methodist Church on the corner of Clumber Street & Portland Street.

Hi Does anyone remember the 'Corner Caff' in Warsop, sort of a container near where QuickSave is now and that wonderful lady who used to run it? We had so such great times there as teenagers and at the Empress Ballroom, even if there was a fight every Saturday night and the police had to be called in. Anyone remember the 12 to 4am dances? I had some good times growing up in Warsop. Would love to hear from anyone who remembers me.

Eddie Tipple (DOB 28/2/20)- I am looking for any information on my paternal Grandfather, who died in 1940 6 weeks after my Mother was born. His parents lived on Sycamore Street, Church Warsop and he briefly joined the Grenadier Guards in 1939. We have no photographs, so never knew what he looked liked. We believe he worked in the mines at Warsop. His Fathers name was George. If you have any information, or know of anyone who can help, please email (adrienne.cutting@royalmail.com). Your help would be very much appreciated.

I remember Orchard Yard as being on Church Street. There was a row of stone cottages on the corner of the junction with Hetts Lane and IOrchard Yard was at the back of these cottages - at least that's how I remeber it. It is years since I left the area but still return at least once a month to visit my parents in Old Church Warsop.

To see the church filled almost to capacity, was a wonderful thing and was appreciated by us all, and would have been by mum too. May we also thank those who generously gave donations in her memory. Does anyone remember the old Victoria Hospital 1947 and the Polish prisoners post war that were kepy there Iwas a young student nurse and now dont quite understand why they were kept at the hospital Any one that old in Worksop Am now living in the States ; but remember the people of Worksop fondly.
Marie - Worksop is 9 miles North of Warsop. People often confuse the two. However, many of us in Warsop will remember the old Victoria Hospital in Worksop, which is no longer there. Kilton, formerly a Maternity Hospital, is now the General Hospital.

Hello to Tammie Wood and Joan Dunstan, there was a Orchard Yard off Church street and you went up a gennel between stone houses into a back yard lined with a few stone houses, this was just below the PloughInn.Ther was also a Orchard Yard at the top of Dawney hill next to Cobbler Jacks shoe repair shop. This is described in the book Warsop Remembered that Mr Frank Blythman wrote in his memoirs that was put out by the Old Warsop Society in 1991. I have Old Warsop in pictures and Warsop, a book of verse by A R Scott which I enjoyed reading. My sister sent these books to me and came from the Old Warsop Society.Hello Joan, are you Derek Dunstans brother?,he was at school with me,I wonder what happened to a lot of my school friends.Write to me if you wish. Nice talking, Harry,

Yes, if anyone has anything of local historical interest to put on Warsop Web I would be happy to start a new section as Tammie suggests. - Carol

Hi there. Bit of a long shot this one. I currently teach maths at Meden and have done for the last 10 years. I am about to apply for Advanced Teacher status which, if I get it, will mean new and different responsibilities and more money! Part of the application procedure involves collecting positive comments from parents who have been particularly impressed with my standard of teaching. If I have made a positive impact on your child then perhaps you could write a few lines and send them to the school. I would very much appreciate it. Thank You.

Having grown up in the village and subsequently leaving to start a family of my own, I have to return to the village to visit my parents, I cannot get over the amount of rubbish that there is in the area and what seems to be the lack of anyone being concerned enough to tackle the problem. How many bins are there in the community and are they being used, surely the amount of council tax you pay would warrant a full time street cleaner and also parents educating their children would all go a long way to solve the problem.

After retuning back to the UK from a break in Austrlia, I had expected to have seen an improved Warsop, the new paving and road surfacing scheme, is a waste of money, one wonders who will be the first old dear to fall over a pavement slap that is un even. I would like to ask Warsop Parish Council a very simple question..........DO YOU THINK?

I believe there are plans to do Party in the Park again next year. It would be interesting to hear (after the event) whether people prefer skateboards or bands. - Carol

i think to make the warsop market a sucess you need to have nearly every shop in warsop have there own stall and some music not that old stuff it also needs to be on a weekend because that is when people are not at work look at the warsop carnival thats in a sunday and that gets a lot of attraction from people. i dont think the markets current location is the best one possible why not have it in the street and then people can park in the talbot car park and walk around enjoying themselves

At long last Warsop is to realise its real potential and lost respect with the re-opening of Wood Street! For far too long the Royal Estate has deteriorated to become the shame of a once proud and happy community. Far too much crime and shame has evolved from this segregated area. People no longer have the desire to live in this part of Warsop. The Royal Estate has sunk to national shame in the news. Shops and industry have abandoned the area. Potential development opportunities have been ignored. People have shamefully moved away. What is more, the residents are paying council tax for the priviledge. Already regeneration has begun but this was a project marred by a lack of the necessary foresight for access roads. With the re-opening people will regain a community spirit. Have a feeling of belonging rathe
